ATTENTION - PLEASE NOTE - WE NO LONGER BREED BURNESE

September 2012
Last week we went to Driffield Agricultural Ch Show, we had a great time and we got a first with our Roonie and 1st with Dolly.
It rained all day long, two people managed to fall over in the ring, first a lady hit the deck and she handed the lead
to her husband who then also fell over.

Judge for the day was Meg Parnell Carpenter.

Saturday the 22nd

The whole family had a day out to Stoneleigh Park for the Burnese Dog Club od Great Britain show - The biggest show of the year
The dog judge for the day was Mrs Marion Klok from Holland. Marion loved our 'Arri' so he was award a first place in the largest class of the day
which was Mid Limit Dog. This I consider to be one of his best wins so far.

Later that day we showed Dolly in graduate bitch and she came 2nd. It was a lovely sunny day to show the dogs in the great big grass rings
at the back of the new Kennel Club Building. In the evening The Burnese Mountain Club held their annual 'Burnese Bash'
Every one let their hair down and a had a good time (photos to follow)

INKA 2009

2009 SUPER LEAGUE FINAL

at Weatherby on the 21st of November. Judged by Bob Gregory
a wonderful glittery day she was

BEST YOUTH BITCH

we would like to thank all those judges who made 2009 such a successful year for us.

Inka's History

When she arrived, she was a bouncy bundle of fun, she fitted in well with my beautiful
and well adjusted Russians. Inka was a joy. At 12 weeks old she started her first ‘Fear phase’
most pups go through these strange phases throughout their teenage months, Inka decided
she would not approach strangers, could not go through door ways or gates, could not walk
on strange surfaces or walkways, she would stand solid with 4 paws rooted to the ground
wide eyed, at any situations she found different from ‘the norm.’

The way to understand these situations is like a small 5 year old child that has just had a
night mare he now sees his dreams in colour, The boogie man under the bed, the dark
corridor the strange toilet he cannot enter. How do we deal with these times?... Understanding,
firm reassurance, kind words. Don’t make a mountain out of a mole hill. The world turns and
time passes. and so do fear phases if handled correctly. Don’t panic. Just like aversion therapy
we must face our fears and then let them out of our systems. So we start to teach the puppy
that he is brave and strong enough to over come all obstacles.

Patience and time to walk on with confidence, we tell him he CAN cope, and we show him
how to do it, we must reassure him and reward him with praise or treats. Each time he
overcomes his stress.

I visit markets, boot sales, and shopping centers. I ask friends to help
by approaching Inka and handling her kindly. A dog club is a must and all the trainers are
involved in this difficult time. Each trainer helps touching, stroking, and reassuring Inka.
Building confidence.

Then onto companion shows, locally, tell the judges to be kind and steady with the
‘new kid on the block’ Inka grew so fast and there was so much for us both to learn.
A new breed means new obstacles to face building slowly , body and mind.

The first open show judge is all important, we went to Towerlands, Inka was only 6 months old,
a baby. Richard Kinsey has raised Rottweilers and Leon burgers and so is very understanding
of our giant breeds temperaments. Inka stood her ground, wide eyed and silent, all went well.
Best Puppy A.V.N.S.C. working class and 2nd in the group Next came the big guns
Birmingham Championship Show at Stafford-Best Puppy Bitch. Bath Championship
Show-Best Puppy and 4th in the group. Suffolk Agricultural Show-Best Puppy and 3rd
in the group.

Now Inka is 8 months old So the training is paying off, she is developing into the most
amazing, beautiful, loyal, but most important - well adjusted companion.

The training goes on... Let’s hope the show success continues also

Violet
